HortNZ Postgraduate Scholarships

Every year Horticulture New Zealand (HortNZ) and the NZ Fruitgrowers‘ Charitable Trust each offer postgraduate scholarships to those undertaking research-focused studies at a New Zealand University.

The following scholarships are generally available:

Postgraduate Scholarships:

$10,000 HortNZ Postgraduate Scholarship
This Scholarship is available to people undertaking postgraduate study in horticulture or related fields. It is being offered to people undertaking higher study because innovation and tackling challenges head-on is critical to the industry’s future success.

$10,000 NZ Fruitgrowers’ Charitable Trust Postgraduate Scholarship
This Scholarship is available to people undertaking postgraduate study specifically related to the fruit industry.

Additionally, both scholarships will receive an all-inclusive professional development program including travel, accommodation, and registration to the Horticulture New Zealand Conference valued at $1500. Scholars are given workshops, professional development opportunities, networking invitations, and exposure to renowned leaders and speakers from the horticulture industry.

Requirements for application

• Individual must be undergoing postgraduate study in horticulture or related fields in the current academic year.
• Individual has the intent to support New Zealand fruit and vegetable industry.

Application process

• Applications are generally accepted from October to December. 
• Check out HortNZ's website for up to date information.

Selection
• Selected candidates will be announced at the end of the year 
• Selected applicants will be required to do short video summarising their research or a written report.
